Golfer’s Elbow is pain and tenderness on the inside of the elbow. The pain can be intermittent and mild, or it can be very severe and constant.
Like Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow is caused by overload to the tendon that attaches the flexor muscles of the forearm to the elbow. Gripping activities loads the flexor tendon, and either doing a sudden increase in gripping activities or the same gripping activity for a long time can cause the tendon to become irritated and painful.
Altering activities can reduce the stress on the tendon, and taping techniques or acupuncture can reduce pain. Specific exercises to strengthen the tendon can help increase it’s ability to withstand load preventing the problem from becoming persistent and chronic.
